Back to School!

Dear Miller Creek Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Miller Creek Middle School. I am very excited for the upcoming school year and to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful community. I am thrilled to be returning to Miller Creek again this year and I am eager to get the year started!  Middle school can be a challenge for any number of reasons. It is my job to help guide my students academically and socially and to hopefully alleviate some of the stress that your child is bound to encounter. I work hard to make school an enjoyable experience for all my students.  What they learn during middle school will set the foundation for their high school, and ultimately, their college years.

A little about me...I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Oregon and my Master’s in Education from City University in Seattle. Before coming to Miller Creek, I taught elementary school in Issaquah, Washington for nine years. I have two children, a son who is five years old and starting kindergarten this year and a daughter who is about to turn four. We live in Novato where we are close to my parents and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to raise our children here. This year marks the start of my third school year here at Miller Creek.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have during the school year.  Communication between parents, students, and teacher plays a vital role in the success of your child.  I encourage you to check my website on School Loop to view the assignment calendar, test dates, and other important information. I will also post important documents such as the supply list in my locker on my website.  As for daily assignments and links to materials passed out in class, I will be posting these directly to School Loop.  You and your child will be able to access this information via the student portal.  If you have not registered with School Loop yet, I recommend that you do so.  It’s a valuable communication tool between teacher, student, and parents.  You are welcome to email me through School Loop, or you may email me directly at kglossop@dixieschooldistrict.org with any questions you may have. Attached to this letter, you will find a copy of the class syllabus, which we reviewed together today in class.

I love the beginning of the school year, as it is an opportunity for new beginnings and a fresh start.  I feel very fortunate to be your child’s teacher and I look forward to getting to know each of my students over the next days and weeks to come.  I appreciate all your support and effort as a parent.  Please do not hesitate to contact me should a question or concern arise.  I am looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Kelly Glossop
