Supply List for Eighth Grade Students 

Welcome to eighth grade! To assist you in making this a very successful year, your eighth grade team of teachers will expect the following supplies that are needed in every class on a daily basis.  Please keep this sheet in your binder.

Shared supplies:

  • At least 200 sheets of college-ruled lined paper
  • Set of colored pencils
  • 2 large glue sticks (bring 1 to school every day) – will possibly run out and you will need to replace over the year
  • Box of 12 #2 Pencils (bring 2 to school every day)
  • Ballpoint pens – 2 red, 2 blue and 2 black
  • Self-contained handheld pencil sharpener
  • 3 highlighters- please choose three different colors
  • index cards (4x6 ruled preferred)
  • access to a computer with a printer that works or a flash drive to move documents for printing at school (at least 4 gigs recommended)
  • calculator (TI-30 or similar)
  • scotch tape
  • A working brain! ;)

Science:

  • 2 large spiral notebooks (preferably with spiral guard) each with at least one pocket
  • Science in the News scrapbook (to be purchased in April)

Math:

  • (Cox/Schmidt) Composition book or spiral notebook for math notes only, 1 inch 3-ring binder w/ two dividers
  • (Phillips)  An 8 ½ by 11 spiral notebook, one pocket folder, and one package of 4” x 6” notecards

Language Arts & Social Studies (CORE): Breece, Meschery, Miller, and Case

  • (Breece) An 81/2 x 11 Spiral bound notebook specific to CORE- a minimum of 100 pages and it helps if it has pockets, if no pockets then a folder or section of a binder for handouts.
  • (Meschery) Three-hole punched, spiral bound, college-ruled notebook with pockets-as thick as you can find.  (Depending on the size of your student’s handwriting and the amount of notes taken, additional notebooks may be needed at some point during the year.)
  • (Miller)  1 ½ inch binder with at least five dividers for CORE only
  • (Case – history only) Three-hole punched, spiral bound, college-ruled notebook (75-100 sheets). 

Foreign Language:

  • Spanish-- One small binder or folder (like a ‘Peachee’ folder)
  • French— college ruled spiral notebook, a two pocket folder, and one black dry erase marker

Digital Media

•     Flash drive (at least 4 gigs recommended).  Head phones/ear buds.  Spiral bound notebook with pockets, or a separate folder to keep handouts.

•    1 composition book, 1 3-ring 1” binder with 2 dividers

Core (Language Arts and Social Studies) – Mrs. Arigi

  • Minimum of 100 4x6 index cards

  • 1 large spiral notebook with college-ruled paper, 8.5 X 11” 
  • 1 pocket divider

Spanish – Ms. Esquibel 

•    3 Pocket dividers and a small 3-ring binder that will be used for Spanish class only

French – Ms. Winnett

  • 1 single-subject spiral notebook with college-ruled paper, 8.5 x 11” 
  • 1 2-pocket folder or binder 
  • 1 black or dark color dry erase marker

Art - Ms. Johannsen

•    Make sure to bring at least 1 pencil to class everyday

 

PE – Ms. Jung

•     MCMS PE shirt, shorts. Supportive, athletic sneakers. Optional: MCMS     sweatpants and sweatshirt (all

    available at T&B Sports in San Rafael)
