Ms. Vakharia is beginning her twentieth year of teaching music and her tenth year in the Dixie School District. Ms. Vakharia teaches orchestra throughout the District. She received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Prior to coming to Miller Creek, she taught band and orchestra at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in Columbus, Ohio, Odessa, Texas, and Livermore, California. Currently, she is in the process of earning her National Board Certification.

 

Ms. Vakharia served as the Dixie School District Music Department Director from 2010 until 2014. From 2010 until 2012, she was the Assistant Orchestra Representative for the California Music Education Association Bay Section and was the treasurer of the Marin Music Education Association for the 2013-2014 school year. She is currently the orchestra representative for the Marin Music Education Association. Ms. Vakharia received the Excellence in Education Award presented by the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce in 2014. She is a member of the California Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education, and American String Teachers Association.

 

A Little More...

  • Ms. Vakharia values and is an advocate for social justice, especially as it relates to race, equity and access in education. 
  • Ms. Vakharia enjoys anything aviation related and has been involved with the Spirit of St. Louis 2 Project. She is also a member of the Novato chapter of the 99s, an organization for women pilots. Her goal is to eventually earn her private pilot's license.
  • Ms. Vakharia loves spending time with her family in the Bay Area and Cincinnati, Ohio. 
  • Ms. Vakharia's students know that she loves spending time with, talking about, and showing pictures of her niece and nephew, Lucia and Judah.
